Former Chicago Bears safety Kevin Byard cracked the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2026, which is voted on by players in the league, coming in at No. 61 on the countdown.
Byard had one of the best seasons of his career 10 years in, and he proved to be a perfect fit in Dennis Allen's defense. He led the NFL in interceptions (7) while leading a defense that also led the league in takeaways (33). Byard, a team captain, played a key role in a bend-don't-break secondary that was hampered by injuries. He was named First-Team All-Pro while also earning a Pro Bowl nod.
Chicago opted to go in a different direction at safety this offseason -- signing Coby Bryant in free agency and drafting Dillon Thieneman in the first round -- and Byard reunited with former Tennessee Titans and current Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who Byard played six seasons for in Tennessee, on a one-year deal.
There are some current Bears players who are expected to make the remainder of the countdown, including quarterback Caleb Williams, left guard Joe Thuney and possibly tight end Colston Loveland.
Defensive end Montez Sweat was the first Bear to land on the list, coming in at No. 91, after logging his first double-digit sack season in Chicago and totaling 53 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 18 QB hits, 53 pressures, three forced fumbles and five pass breakups.
