The Pittsburgh Pirates cruised to a 12-4 blowout win over the A’s on Wednesday to win the series.

Pittsburgh lost the first game of the series 11-2, before winning 6-5 on Tuesday and 12-4 on Wednesday to get the series win. The Pirates were led by Ryan O’Hearn, who was playing in his 800th career MLB game and had a career-high six RBIs.

Following the lopsided win, O’Hearn felt like he was trending in the right direction.

"I haven’t hit the ball really well to left field lately, and that’s a strength of mine,” O’Hearn said. “Kind of working on that, just cleaning some things up mechanically. I feel good. I think I’m trending in the right direction.”

Along with O’Hearn, the entire offense was solid, as the Pirates reached double-digit hits for the second straight game.

“That’s a key for us, quality at-bats and production up and down the lineup,” O’Hearn said. “Any stretch that we’ve had that’s been really good this season, the common denominator has been the offense has been kind of relentless up and down the lineup.”

With the win, the Pirates improved to 38-37 and is one game back of a Wild Card spot. Pittsburgh will begin a three-game road series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
