That’s the record for the NFL team that we are devoting our time/energy/lifetime to follow. There’s really no logic to even be on this forum—the chances of the Cards rising above their history is slim-to-none. So, how to move the needle and get back to some degree of success? At this point, even a 8-9 would make a lot of people here ‘happy.’
“If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use is the rule?”
Taking RB Love at 3 would be outside standard logic of the modern NFL draft philosophy. Realize that following those ‘unwritten rules’ has gotten the Cards to their miserable franchise record and #3 in this draft. Do you really think that a RT (who projects to a RG if his spine holds up) or a DL/DE will be above what we can get above RB Love?
All the arguments against a RB can be applied to any other position—even ‘top’ QB prospects don’t make the next step. What RT in the history of the game ended up as league MVP or SB MVP? Even some of the current top DL/DE have not resulted in team success. If you have time, investigate the number of playoff appearances made by Miles Garrett, Watt, Crosby, Fredrickson, etc.
What has happened with other teams and their success or failure with a given position should not be the metric on how the Cards draft. We must focus on this roster, this team, the players in this draft. There are so many factors that go into how a drafted player succeeds to make it a major mistake to look at the surface and say the same applies to the Cards. Bringing up Jeanty, Barkley, etc are not relevant to our team building and roster construction.
I just want to see some excitement on Sunday. For years, I would tune into games just to see Fitz perform. I attended the Card-Cowboy game with rookie RB OJAnderson. We lost but at least we went down fighting as Anderson put up 190+ yards. I want to see RB Love cruise to a TD—that’s how easy I am to please.
