Michigan commit Yaxel Lendeborg is strongly considering remaining in the 2025 NBA draft after five years in college, according to Jeff Goodman of Field of 68.
Lendeborg entered the transfer portal on March 31 and eventually committed to the Wolverines, while also declaring for the draft. He was viewed as perhaps the top available big man in the country after a dominant run at UAB over the past two years.
The 6-foot-9 forward told ESPN on April 5 that he was focused primarily on the predraft process and securing a guaranteed contract in the NBA. Despite receiving a large offer to play for the Wolverines, Lendeborg may forgo his last year of eligibility, according to Goodman.
Lendeborg, born in Puerto Rico, was a two-time NJCAA All-American at Arizona Western before transferring to UAB. He led all junior-college players in rebounding during the 2022-23 season, averaging 17.2 points, 13 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 72.7% shooting from the field.
The 22-year-old was the AAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, averaging 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.7 steals in 37 games. He ranked third in the country in rebounds (420) and seventh in player efficiency rating (29.8).
Lendeborg will be able to gauge his draft stock in team workouts and the combine on May 11-18 in Chicago, Illinois. He has until May 28 to withdraw from the draft.
The 2025 NBA draft will occur June 25-26 in New York City.

(He) signed with Michigan for a boatload of money, somewhere in the $3 million range, according to my sources. ... He committed to Michigan, and my sources tell me he is very focused and leaning toward staying in the NBA draft.
