Anybody else remember Graves saying this? I think it happened the week after McCown was put into the San Francisco home game (win). McCown went in for a series because Blake had a contact problem or something and he looked absolutely horrible (nervous, running around like a chicken with his head cut off).

Graves was on to something when he made that statement.

I am really starting to raise an eyebrow to the proclamation that everyone in the Cards scouting department had Larry Fitzgerald as the #1 guy on the draft board. Its kind of like when Saddam used to say that there were open elections in Iraq when he was in power. He would always get 100% of the votes because no one else was on the ballot.

Was Fitzgerald really Rod Graves #1 guy or was he just bullied into putting Fitz at the top? All indications were that Graves wanted a quarterback and then he suddenly changes his mind.

He said something about Josh getting so nervous in the pocket that it "permeated" the whole huddle.

Here's the exact quote.

“I still have a concern about how rapidly Josh is maturing,” vice president of football operations Rod Graves said. “There were some bright spots back in the preseason.

“The biggest disadvantage is he has not had much of an opportunity to get playing time, accustomed to feeling comfortable. His tendency to get nervous sort of permeates through the rest of us at times.”

Rod Graves is the guy that told us "we had Terrell Suggs rated 16th in the draft."

It'll take Denny two years to get rid of the rest of the free agents Rod brought in, and players he gave contract extensions to.

But I'm sure he was right about Josh.

Judging talent before a draft and judging whether a guy is nervous or not are completely different no?

I've got Suggs on my fantasy team now, I benched Simeon for him.

Section 11's endorsement of Aaron Brooks is persuading me to not want to go after him.

dude - your sig is killing me - that's the first time I've seen it - between that thread and my guaranteed prediction that Pedro would get shelled against the Cards, I think I should stop making threads.

The only things I have heard from the team about Josh seem to be negative.

I don't know that the team likes him and maybe that is more of the problem than anything.

Boldin said some curious things that look more ominous now than they did when he said them.

However if anyone thinks King is the answer including Boldin please pass me some of what they are smoking.

I think drafting Fitz was a mistake first of all because Roy Williams is flat out better and you can mark that down but I said that back before the draft.

However if I were in charge of the franchise would I have know about Ben being that good? Probably not and to be fair the way he has played he should have been the number one pick and he wasn't so others missed it as well.

Not addressing the QB position was a mistake plain and simple. We should have drafted one in the first round end of story.

That might be hindsight but I'd give up my Roy Williams pick easy for Ben the way he is playing. Having said that he wouldn't be doing that well here and some would already be questioning him as a bust. It's just a feeling I have.
