Wisconsin women’s basketball fell to the Columbia Lions 67-50 in the WBIT Semifinals on Monday in Wichita, Kansas.

The Badgers' route to the tournament's final stages could be characterized as somewhat of a surprise, especially considering UW's comeback win over Harvard at the Kohl Center on March 26 in overtime. The Badgers trailed by as many as seven with under 45 ticks to spare in the fourth quarter before piloting a comeback vs. the Crimson. However, the program did not enjoy the same success against the title-bound Lions on Monday evening.

After the contest, head coach Robin Pingeton met with the media to discuss the loss and reflect on the season. While disappointed about the end result, UW's first-year leader appeared relatively hopeful headed into the 2026-27 campaign.

"We've done a lot of really good things this year," Pingeton said. "When you look at our schedule, nine of last 10 games we've played are all in the NCAA Tournament, I believe...We're not satisfied, for sure, but we're moving the needle, and can't wait to have a great offseason and get back after it in the fall.

"We want more," Pington added. "I can't wait to get back to work, but I'm really proud of them. I'm really proud of their resiliency."

Following the departures of Serah Williams and Carter McCray at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Pingeton retooled the roster via the transfer portal. Kyrah Daniels, Destiny Howell, Laci Steele and Gift Uchenna, alongside program veteran Ronnie Porter, morphed into instant contributors.

Now, ahead of her second season in Madison, she believes UW established a blueprint.

"I think that's the team that we want to continue to recruit to," Pingeton said. "Hopefully we created a little bit of a buzz, created a home-court environment moving forward and laid a really good foundation."
