The Tennessee Titans are in their acclimation period ahead of training camp, which means that there are no pads yet, simply non-contact team activities and drills.
Ahead of working out with his new roster, head coach Robert Saleh addressed the media. One of the things he discussed was how the Titans' offense is expected to be "fast and violent" in 2026.
When asked how the offense can employ the "fast and violent" mantra typically used by defense, Saleh said, "It's the same thing. The way the O-line runs off the ball in the run game, the way receivers transition out of the break, the way they catch the ball - get vertical, drop-step - get vertical, with the mindset to break tackles. The way the backs run, one cut, get vertical, and try to run through people. You can play fast and violent.
"And, like I've said, when you think 'violence,' it's not just hitting. It's how violently you get out of your break. It's how violently you cut. It's how violently you get off the ball. It's how violent you are in transition."
Have you seen Kyle Brandt's Angry Runs segment on Good Morning Football? This is what Saleh is talking about. It's not just hitting another player with full force. Violence can be employed in how forceful you make your body, how much power you put behind your steps and your stiff-arms. Every position on the football field has the opportunity to play with violence on every down.
"There's a lot of violence in how you move and a lot of violence in your feet," Saleh said. "A lot of violence in your mindset, and, obviously, the contact point."
Newly signed offensive linemen Austin Schlottman and Cordell Volson will get to show how violent they can be during training camp. Saleh says that they will start with first-team reps at center and right guard.
As the players continue to get acclimated to their return to practice and new faces get acclimated to the Titans' organization, they'll all be ready to show just how fast and violent they can be. Everyone wants a spot on that final 53-man roster, and playing the way Saleh wants you to play is a good way to garner attention.
