Congratulations JC!!!!!

JC was a great evaluator of talent.

It's no coincidence he started thinking about selling after the latest collective bargaining agreement (which screwed the Suns).

Evaluating talent became just as important as evaluating cap space, which wasn't his cup of tea. Can't say I don't blame him.

Jerry Colangelo deserves a Ring of Honor designation from the city of Phoenix and the state of Arizona.

He put us on the map and now we are a four major sport city.

He revitalized the downtown area.

He conducted himself in a professional manner.

I just wish he left a different legacy for the Suns than small ball.

I did get a kick out of Kevin Johnson, in his tribute, referring to Jerry bringing a Championship to the fans . . . but, referring to the Suns, "not yet".

It was nice to see the old Suns "alumni" there tonight. It brought back a lot of old memories of growing up watching people like Walter Davis, Alvan Adams, and Paul Westphal.

The first sporting event I ever went to was a Suns game at the Madhouse on MacDowell (circa 1976). George Gervin lit us up for 44 points and the Suns lost, but I was hooked anyway. No doubt that this team wouldn't have achieved anything without Jerry Colangelo. Heck, they very could well have moved somewhere else. That drug scandal era was pretty ugly.

Jerry did good for the community and state I'll give him that.

Just one thing....Didnt he seem more like a baseball fan than a basketball fan? He seemed more into the Dbacks than the Suns. Not saying he wasnt a Suns fan but I think baseball has his heart strings.

I think he's said baseball was his first love...however, I'd bet he'd be more excited if the Suns won the title (just like most of us would) because they've been around longer and gone through more.

They played a video at the game of Colangelo and his assistant that was pretty funny. Colangelo was hard at work in his office and his assistant comes in. She says its past 8pm and she was heading home, and he should do the same. He said he had some work to do still. Once she leaves he turns on some rocknroll and flies around his office in his boxers ala risky business. Then he wakes al mccoy up and makes him come down to the arena. jerry suits up and goes on the court for a shootaround and makes Al do play by play of him. Then he wakes the gorilla up and makes him come down and do some trampoline dunks with him.

Assistant comes back in early next morning and finds colangelo sleeping at his desk from the night before. She feels bad for him since he works so hard.

The End

Was pretty funny.

An interesting Colangelo tidbit:

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/11/04/popovich-stop-talking-crap-colangelo/

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is an affable fellow; always joshing with the media and putting whoopee cushions on Robert Horry's airline seat. But when someone gets his goat -- a referee, James White, Team USA boss Jerry Colangelo -- Pop goes straight Captain Insano. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! resets the Colangelo beef, which has been mostly relayed in shadows to this point.

In explaining his choice of [Mike] Krzyzewski over Popovich, sources say, Colangelo infuriated the Spurs coach with the public suggestions that he wasn't as enthusiastic about the job as Duke's coach, that he didn't seem to want it as badly. ... Then, this summer, Colangelo started telling those tales again, and Popovich was irate, sources said. ...

Finally last month, Popovich ripped off a stern letter to Colangelo, copying it to the highest levels of the NBA hierarchy. Those who have seen the letter say that Popovich's message to Colangelo was clear: Stop talking about USA Basketball and me. Popovich told him his side of the story, and told him that he didn't need to respond. Just knock it off.

Let me tell you: You do not want to be on the wrong side of a stern letter from Popovich! You think Darko was vile? Pop spent his military career as a spy in the Eastern bloc. Do not %&@$ with Gregg Popovich, people. In all seriousness, though: Why would you burn San Antonio's bridge with regards to Team USA basketball? Popovich is the best coach in the NBA and has some great assistants; the Spurs franchise is one the national program should be closely aligned with. It may not get you Tim Duncan and it certainly won't get you Tony Parker or Manu Ginobili, but Pop and R.C. Buford are every bit stars as the players.

^Uh, no. Duncan hates FIBA, and outside of him there are no American players on the Spurs roster worth having on Team USA. Good for JC for telling it like he saw it, he's always been an honest, up front kinda guy, and if Captain Acne Scar can't handle that, who cares?

Furthermore, I'm not worried about Pops time as a spy, Colangelo is an Italian with money in the casino business, I'll take my chances.
