Adrian Wilson is one of the most distinguished players in Arizona Cardinals history, a hard-hitting safety who made five Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro selection three times.

This season, his name will become a permanent fixture at University of Phoenix Stadium.

The Cardinals announced Monday that Wilson, who played for them from 2001-12, will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor on Sept. 27 when Arizona hosts the San Francisco 49ers.

Maybe my favorite Cardinal ever. I'll never forget going to Fan Fest at SDS his second season, coming up to his (short) autograph line, and asking him if he was going to take Pat Tillman's job this year.

I don't think so – he kind of looked at me the same way that Kwamie Lassiter did when I asked him to sign a football card "The Swami's Cousin."

He would've been sitting with a pretty motley crew or teammates -- Quentin Harris and Coby Reinhart.

Boy, that 2002 Cardinals team stunk. Plummer threw for fewer than 3000 yards(!!!). In 16 starts!

Saw A-Dub out at lunch last week. The guy is absolutely massive still. Looks to be in better shape than some current players..

Glad he's going in to the ROH. One of my all time favorites.

Well deserved. Still one of my favorite cards. For many, many years he was the absolute best player on our team and he never stopped believing. He always wanted to help turn the franchise around and I believe he helped do that.

(Edit: we should also note, he had many opportunities to leave us for greener pastures. He was one of the top safeties in the league for several years, during the dark ages when our team sucked in absolute totality. He never did that, the way Boldin and Dock and others have. Instead, he was put out to pasture like a broken horse, by the team he sacrificed his body for. Now he's back. That's all loyalty and heart in my opinion)
