Joint practices have become one of the more useful tools in recent years during the preseason.
When the league reduced one preseason on the schedule, it turned to joint practices to get better looks at veterans and rookies on its rosters. For the Vikings, they already have confirmed reports from Christopher Gates of the Daily Norseman that they will have joint practices with the New England Patriots. The two teams will faceoff in Week 2 of the preseason so they will be facing off all week leading up to the game.
For the Vikings, it will allow them to have what should be expected to be physical practices due to the Patriots new head coach Mike Vrabel running things.
Some notable players to watch during the practices will include Patriots top draft pick Will Campbell and how he handles the Vikings pass rushers, as well as Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Also returning to Minnesota will be recently signed Stefon Diggs, whether he practices at that point having torn his ACL in 2024 is yet to be seen.
No matter what, there is a lot to be gained for the Vikings early on in the preseason thanks to these joint practices.
