The live evaluation period for college basketball recruiting ends Sunday, after which coaches will have a week of limited contact with recruits ahead of the August dead period.
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd and his staff have already locked in fall visits with two of their top targets in the 2027 class: five-star center Darius Wabbington and four-star point guard NaVorro Bowman Jr.
Wabbington, a 6-foot-11 big man out of Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, is set to visit Arizona on October 25, he told 247Sports’ Dushawn London. Wabbington also has visits planned to Indiana, Louisville and North Carolina and is also considering Kentucky and Texas.
Wabbington is ranked the No. 12 player in the class and the fourth-best prospect out of Arizona.
“That’s the backyard school,” he told 247. “I have a great relationship with coach Lloyd, coach (Jack) Murphy and the rest of the coaching staff. I’ve been down there a couple of times. I love the system. They had success and made it to the Final Four this past year.”
Arizona will also receive a visit from Bowman Jr., he told 247’s Travis Branham. The date of the visit hasn’t been shared yet.
Bowman Jr., the son of former NFL NaVorro Brown, is a 6-foot-3 guard for Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. He is a consensus top-20 recruit and the top prospect out of the Golden State.
“The season they had stood out to me,” he told 247. “Jaden Bradley and Brayden Burries are great point guards and I feel like we have similar games, so that stood out to me.”
Arizona’s competition for Bowman Jr. includes Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, Miami and North Carolina.
Wabbington and Bowman Jr. are two of only six players in the 2027 class to have confirmed offers from Arizona, per 247. The others are five-star guard Adan Diggs, four-star guard Jason Gardner Jr., four-star center Cherif Millogo and four-star center Kamsi Awaka, the younger brother of former Arizona big Tobe Awaka.
Arizona could end up with a bigger high school class in 2027 compared to its 2026 class, which include Caleb Holt and Cameron Holmes.
