Jimmy Butler is undoubtedly one of the most important pieces for the Golden State Warriors amid their attempt to contend for a title in the 2025 NBA playoffs. In the 30 games he played for the Dubs during the regular season, the team went 23-7.

The 35-year-old Butler, who joined the Warriors via a five-team trade at the February deadline, averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals during that span.

In their play-in win against the Memphis Grizzlies to secure the seventh seed in the West, Butler tallied 38 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Then in Game 1 of their playoff series against the Houston Rockets, he dropped 25 points, seven boards, six dimes and five steals in a 95-85 win.

Naturally, fans were concerned when Butler was forced to exit Wednesday's Game 2 against Houston due to what the team called a "pelvis contusion." Butler had a nasty fall while going up for a rebound after he was undercut by Rockets youngster Amen Thompson.

Fortunately, a report by Tim Kawakami of The Athletic revealed that initial X-rays done in the arena on Butler showed "no major damage."

Now, the next step for Butler is to get an MRI to determine the full extent of his injury. That said, the Warriors are reportedly planning to let the six-time All-Star leave Houston earlier than planned.

"NBA source: Though the Warriors, as scheduled, are staying over in Houston tonight, the plans are for Jimmy Butler to fly back to the Bay Area tonight to get an MRI tomorrow," Kawakami reported.

Initial X-rays at the arena show no major damage, but an MRI will give more details.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn't give much of an update about Butler's status during his postgame presser. While he shared the mentality of his player, he admitted that, like everyone else, they can only wait for the results of the MRI to know how serious the issue is.

Game 3 of the Warriors-Rockets series is scheduled for Saturday, so Butler still has some time to rest and, hopefully, recover in time for their next outing.
