The Spanish Football Federation have appointed referee Munuera Montero as the man in charge of Sunday’s El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 2026 Spanish Supercup Final.

Real Madrid have a 16-2-2 record with him as the referee, while Barcelona’s record with him in charge is 18-4-6. Madridistas will remember him for showing Jude Bellingham a red card against Osasuna when the midfielder said ‘fudge off’ in what was a very controversial decision given that the match ended 0-0.

Munuera Montero will be under a lot of pressure in this game, as both Real Madrid and Barcelona will want to make a statement. This El Clásico is expected to be one played with intensity and physicality, so his decisions could very well have an impact on the final score.
