The Detroit Red Wings traded back into the first round last night, parting ways with goaltender Sebastian Cossa as they selected #23 overall in an after a trade with the Utah Mammoth .

Owning picks #47, #79, #108, #143, #175, #196, and #207, the Red Wings have selections in each of the 6 available rounds today.


Barring a trade, the Red Wings will select at those spots. Insider Elliotte Friedman reported during the opening of Day 2 of the draft that things had been quiet on the Larkin trade-front on Night 1. He did, however, preface that things are always subject to change. Especially with Yzerman’s reputation for keeping things close to his chest.

Round 2, #47 Overall-​

With the 47 pick in the Draft the Red Wings selected Victor Plante. Brother of Red Wings prospect Max Plante.

Victor comes out of the US National Development Program at the moment. However, he will be joining his brother at University of Minnesota Duluth to play in the next year. Though slightly undersized, Victor plays a similar cerebral, smart game that allows him to find the soft spots in defenses and score.
