Red Sox Vs. Yankees Lineups See Caleb Durbin Return Following Scary Injury originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
A dislocated pinky won't keep Boston Red Sox infielder Caleb Durbin out of the team's starting nine for the series-opener vs. the New York Yankees on Thursday night.
"1st of 4," the Red Sox official account posted on Bluesky, along with their starting lineup against the Yankees.
Durbin left Wednesday's loss vs. the Colorado Rockies in the third inning after diving into first base and suffering what was announced as a left fifth finger subluxation.
Interim manager Chad Tracy said after the game that the offseason trade acquisition's finger was "kind of facing a direction it shouldn't," but the training staff was "able to pop it back in."
Tracy added that the team "might have dodged a bullet there."
Durbin had a six-game hitting streak in which he raised his batting average 30 points prior to Wednesday's premature exit. The 26-year-old went 11-for-22 with two home runs, four RBIs and two stolen bases during the hot stretch and enters Thursday with five home runs, 30 RBIs, seven steals and a .218/.273/.362 slash line this season.
