BOSTON — The Red Sox remain the hottest team in Major League Baseball and can make it seven straight wins with a victory over the Chicago White Sox Wednesday night.

Overall, the Red Sox have won eight of their last nine and are 15-3 since the All-Star break and 24-3 in their last 27 games. Over the last 40 games, they’re 32-8 and currently are a season-high 10 games over the .500 mark.


Boston boasts the third-best record in the American League.


The Sox have beaten Chicago in all four head-to-head meetings this season, sweeping them in Chicago last month before taking the series opener here Tuesday night. The Red Sox have also gone 8-1 in their last nine games with Chicago.

In fact, Boston hasn’t lost to a first-place club since June, winning all of their matchups with the Rays, White Sox, and most recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers. In total, they’ve won each of their last 15 games against teams who entered today with a winning record.
