BOSTON — Riding their longest winning streak in 78 years, the Red Sox welcome the Baltimore Orioles to Fenway for the first of three Monday night.
The Red Sox have won their last 13 in a row, the longest streak for the franchise since 1948. They’ve swept each of their last four series, including one over the weekend from the first-place Tampa Bay Rays. Their current winning streak is tied for the sixth-longest win streak in the American League since 2000.
Boston has also won 18 of 20 to close within six games of the top spot in the AL East. That makes the Sox the only team to win as many as 18 games in a 20-game span this year. All of which has lifted the Sox to two games over .500, their high point of the 2026 season.
The Orioles have a more modest streak going at seven games. The two teams have met six times already this season, splitting those at 3-3. The O’s took two-of-three from the Sox when they visited Fenway in the first week of June.
Second baseman Anthony Seigler, who was off Sunday as the Red Sox had Andruw Monasterio at the position, is back at second, leading off for the Red Sox. Masataka Yoshida, who’s been given a long run of late especially against righties, will serve as the DH.
This is the second of three series on the Sox’ nine-game homestand, with Toronto due in Thursday for the first of three. After that, the Sox return to the West Coast for the second time this month.
