On Friday, Anthony Seigler had two hits for the WooSox in Allentown, Pa. One day later, he’s leading off for the Red Sox all the way across the country.

Seigler, who was recalled to take the roster spot of injured infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, will hit first and start at second base for the Red Sox against the Mariners and righty Emerson Hancock on Saturday night in Seattle. Seigler has appeared in two games (one start) for Boston so far this year while playing 37 games for the WooSox. He was acquired alongside Caleb Durbin and Andruw Monasterio in the March trade with Milwaukee that sent Kyle Harrison, David Hamilton and Shane Drohan to the Brewers.

Saturday will also mark a rare day off for Ceddanne Rafaela, who has started 25 of 26 games (including 15 in a row) in center field. Instead, the speedy Nate Eaton will make his first major league start of the season. Interim manager Chad Tracy said Thursday he planned to get his top three outfielders (Rafaela, Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu) days off during the team’s six-game trip to Seattle and Colorado.

“That’s the hope,” Tracy said. “A lot of that is making sure we’re getting the probables and see what makes sense, even if it’s a right-handed pitcher. Does it make sense to do a full off day or does it make sense to have one of them DH just to get them out of the outfield? The intent on this trip is to try to, whether it’s DH or an off day, to mix in a break for those guys, especially with this trip, going west and how rigorous that can be.”

Seigler is the fourth different leadoff man Tracy has used since June 10, when he last had Duran hit first. On Saturday, Masataka Yoshida is the designated hitter and will hit second with Mickey Gasper on the bench. Marcelo Mayer is the shortstop and Durbin is at third base against the right-handed Hancock.

Carlos Narváez will catch for the second straight night. It’s his first time catching back-to-back games in a month, since May 20 and 22.

Starting pitcher Connelly Early, who had a 2.95 ERA in his first 11 starts through the end of May, has scuffled so far in June. Including a poor last outing in which the Rangers tagged him for six earned runs and 11 hits in 4 ⅔ innings, the rookie has allowed 12 earned runs and 22 hits (including five homers) in three June outings. That’s good for a 7.36 ERA in the month. Early has allowed 14 homers in his last 11 starts (62 innings).

The Red Sox will look to build some momentum after a clean 6-2 win Friday night, when Ranger Suarez carried a no-hitter into the seventh and Mayer and Durbin paced the offense. First pitch is at 10:10 p.m. ET.
