When the Boston Red Sox made a blockbuster deal with the Baltimore Orioles involving Adley Rutschman, it was announced that there was a player to be named later.

It remained uncertain who the Red Sox were going to send in the deal involving Rutschman, but both sides have officially found out who it is. The Red Sox, according to the team, sent minor league outfielder Harold Rivas to Baltimore.

"The #RedSox today sent minor league OF Harold Rivas to the Baltimore Orioles, completing the August 3, 2026 trade for Cs Adley Rutschman and Jake Rogers," the Red Sox official team account posted on X on Wednesday.

Rivas, just 18 years old, started his professional career with the Red Sox last season. In rookie ball, he hit .258 with two home runs, 20 RBIs, 35 walks, and 35 strikeouts in 159 at-bats.

Throughout the 2026 campaign, he swung it at a similar level, hitting .241 with 6 home runs and 24 walks in 170 at-bats. Some outlets had him viewed as a top-10 prospect in the Red Sox system, meaning Boston sent four top-10 prospects in the deal for Rutschman to Baltimore.

This was clearly a trade the Red Sox were content with making, though as time continues to go by, it feels like the front office gave up a lot. Rutschman is a very good player, however, so the hope here is that Boston eventually wins the trade.
