What did Orioles get in Adley Rutschman trade with Red Sox? Full details on blockbuster deal originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Baltimore Orioles are selling this summer, and at the deadline, have made a major move with the AL East rival Boston Red Sox. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Adley Rutschman is headed to Boston.
It's a sad day seeing Rutschman go in a blockbuster deal, especially since he's joining the Red Sox. But it's important to know what the Orioles are getting in return for their beloved franchise icon.
According to Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun, the Orioles are receiving five players in return for Rutschman from the Red Sox. It's a massive haul, and it includes some very valuable prospects.

"The full return for Adley Rutschman, per source: Anthony Eyanson, Eddy Azocar, Kyson Witherspoon, Harold Rivas, Carlos Narvaez," Meyer reports.
This is a massive package for the Orioles, and should somewhat help make up for the fact that they're losing their beloved catcher.
Anthony Eyanson is a right-handed pitching prospect who, according to MLB Pipeline, is the Red Sox's second-ranked prospect.
Right-handed pitching prospect Kyson Witherspoon is ranked No. 4 in the Red Sox organization, while Enddy Azocar, the 19-year-old outfielder, is ranked No. 5 in the Boston organization.

But that's not all, as Carlos Narvaez is also coming over in this trade. While he has -0.5 bWAR this season with a .187 batting average and a .535 OPS, he had a .726 OPS last year and is someone who is under club control through 2030, and is worth a flier.
Harold Rivas was mentioned as being in this trade, but according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, he's not included in the deal. In his place is a "player to be named later," which means the Red Sox will send a prospect Baltimore's way in the future.
All-in-all, the Orioles are sending Rutschman to the Red Sox in exchange for Narvaez, Witherspoon, Eyanson, and Azocar, along with a player to be named later in a blockbuster deal. It's a strong return, but it's a sad day to see Rutschman go.
