The Boston Red Sox signed Brendan Rodgers to a minor league deal this offseason after spending 2025 with the Houston Astros. The idea for the second baseman is to add infield depth.

Injuries have been the main problem for Brendan Rodgers as he continues to try to make a major league roster.

His Gold Glove-winning defense has kept him in the mix for making a team, but staying on the field has been an issue for the 29-year-old. He was dealt another injury in Boston's Spring Training game against the Minnesota Twins.

Brendan Rodgers suffers shoulder injury in Spring Training

An oblique strain, concussion, broken nose, and lower-body injuries limited Rodgers to just 43 games in 2025 with the Astros. This pattern of setbacks has continued during his tenure with the Red Sox.

After hitting a two-RBI single earlier in the game, Rodgers exited after landing awkwardly while attempting to catch a line drive.

Tim Healey of the Boston Globe says the team labeled the injury as "right shoulder pain."

This is very concerning for both Rodgers and the Red Sox. The Gold Glove Award winner in 2022 had undergone surgery on both of his shoulders during his time with the Colorado Rockies.

He will have further tests done on the shoulder. Rodgers has experienced previous issues with this specific injury, so Red Sox fans will be holding their breath.

This will also be steps in the wrong direction as Rodgers was still competing for a spot on the Red Sox's roster.
