I told Jenna that since she isn't feeling well this week, I'll toss up a few recipes for her. This one I've never made, but it looks simple enough. Plus I trust the source. If it was some obscure recipe website I got this from, I'd not want to post it till I could try it, but coming from Alton Brown on Food Network, I'm pretty sure it's a good recipe!!!

Hope you feel better soon Jenna!!!!!!!

4 cups chicken stock, home made or store bought
3/4 cup diced onion
3/4 cup diced celery
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 ounces dried egg noodles, cooked to al dente
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh tarragon leaves
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh parsley leaves
Lemon halves, for serving

Bring stock to boil for 2 minutes in a large, non-reactive stockpot with lid on, over high heat. Add onion, celery, and garlic. Lower heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Add noodles and cook 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and add herbs and salt and pepper, to taste. Serve with lemon halves and add squeeze of lemon juice if desired.

I will be the first to admit that I am a super newb in the kitchen...
but I have been wondering this for awhile. When you say 3/4 cup diced onion, is there an easy way to measure that based on the amount of the onion you use? Like for instance, 3/4 cup onion = 3/4 1 whole onion?

I (personally) use that as a guide for good sized onions and apples, too.
