Real Madrid have changed their mind and will go after Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernández once the FIFA World Cup ends this Sunday, according to a report from Es Radio’s Sergio Valentin. Coach José Mourinho would be keen on adding an extra midfielder, one capable of dictating the tempo of the game, and that’s why Real Madrid have decided to go after the 30-year old midfielder.
Rodri wants to join Real Madrid and his current deal with Manchester City expires next summer, which means that the English club will likely agree to part ways with him now that they’re also set to rebuild their squad following Pep Guardiola’s departure.
Rodri is past his prime as a player but it’s true that he would immediately improve the team’s ability to control the game. Real Madrid don’t have that kind of profile in their current squad and that’s why his signing would make sense.
