The Sarasota Herald-Tribune honored the best athletes, teams and coaches from Manatee and Sarasota counties at The High School Sports Awards on May 26, 2026.
The Herald-Tribune sports staff selected All-Area Teams of the top athletes and coaches for all high school sports for the 2025-2026 season.
We named Sarasota High swimmer Bogdan Zverev as our Boys Athlete of the Year among the 12 boys sports candidates. Zverev was unmatched in the pool this season. The Sarasota High senior, an Alabama signee, finished the year ranked as the No. 1 high school swimmer in Florida per Swimcloud and won individual district, regional, and state championships in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly. He also swam legs on the Sailors’ state runner-up 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
