Kentucky Football added another important piece to its growing 2027 recruiting class on Saturday, landing a commitment from class of 2027 3-star running back Mason Ball.
Ball, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect from Jacksonville, Arkansas, chose Kentucky over Arkansas, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Ball is ranked No. 737 nationally, the No. 57 running back in the country, and the No. 3 overall player in the state of Arkansas.
The talented back is coming off a productive junior season where he rushed for 1,401 yards and 27 touchdowns while averaging 7.61 yards per carry. He also added 17 receptions for 131 yards during the 2025 season.
Ball becomes the third running back commitment in Kentucky’s 2027 class, joining Bryian Duncan Jr. and Kelsey Gerald in what is quickly becoming one of the Wildcats’ deepest position groups.
When asked what made Kentucky the right choice, Ball pointed to his longtime relationship with Kentucky running backs coach Kolby Smith.
“While coach Smith was at Arkansas, he gave me my first ever offer, and the way we kept a great relationship even now that he’s at Kentucky played a big part in it,” Ball tells A Sea of Blue.
Ball believes the future running back room has a chance to be special.
“We all complement each other well, and we will be electric!” Ball said.
He described himself as a complete running back capable of making explosive plays.
“I’ve been compared to Isiah Pacheco a lot, but I’m a home-run hitter, 100% complete back,” Ball added.
Ball also spoke highly of Kentucky’s coaching staff throughout the recruiting process.
“Nothing but love for everyone in the building, Coach Smith is my guy,” Ball said.
As for his message to the Big Blue Nation, Ball made his intentions clear.
“Kentucky is getting a dominant player that loves the game and is going to make a big impact on and off the field!
Ball is scheduled to officially visit Kentucky on June 5 as the Wildcats continue building one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the country, with the class entering the day ranked ninth nationally by 247 Sports.
