The Rays bolstered their pitching pipeline by selecting Ben Blair, a right-handed pitcher from Liberty University, with their next pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. Liberty RHSP Ben Blair is a top draft crush of mine. Uber-athletic w/ outlier release traits (4.9’ relH / ~7.2’ ext). FB up to 98 has an unreal -3.8° t3VAA, and he can manipulate two different looks with it. 83 MPH SW has -15” HB. Fun 85-87 lifty CT running 65% str. 4% BB & +cmnd pic.twitter.com/G8CSgmbcEZ

While some evaluators wonder whether his arm slot could eventually push him toward the bullpen, his track record as a starter and consistent ability to miss barrels give him a strong chance to remain in the rotation as he begins his professional career.
