Ravens urged to fill gaping roster hole for Lamar Jackson originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Baltimore Ravens ' offseason has been rather productive, with the franchise adding Trey Hendrickson to Jesse Minter's defense.

But the big move was an outgoing, with Tyler Linderbaum as Lamar Jackson lost his three-time Pro Bowl center.

The Ravens, somewhat oddly, didn't replace him, leaving the offensive line with a gaping hole that has to be filled before it's too late.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has named the center position as one that has to be fixed.

"The Baltimore Ravens lost Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum in free agency," Knox wrote. "They haven't adequately replaced him, and general manager Eric DeCosta admitted that the team is still searching after the draft.

"While it's unclear which centers might be available via a trade, vets like Ethan Pocic and Ryan Bates remain unsigned."

Why haven't Ravens replaced Tyler?

There are a couple of reasons for me, and Baltimore fans won't like either.

The first one is the franchise tried in free agency and the draft, but struck out both times. That happens.

But perhaps the most alarming one for fans is that the franchise wants to see what it has in Corey Bullock and Jovaughn Gwyn, neither of whom has much NFL experience.

Of course, the Ravens could wait until after June 1, when a lot of cuts are predicted to happen across the league, and they might pick up a bargain.

But right now? The Ravens offense has a huge hole it hasn't yet filled, and I can't imagine Lamar would be too pleased.
