Ranking the top 10 catchers in MLB entering July

MLB heads into the 16th week of the 2026 season. The 2026 All-Star Game takes place in one week, and the All-Star teams, from each respective league, have been announced. The pool of players was arguably as good as it’s been in a long time. Many deserving players earned nods while certain players were snubbed. Here are the top ten catchers in the league.

10. Samuel Basallo, Baltimore Orioles​

The rookie has put together a solid season. He’s put his power on display. There is work to be done in terms of strikeouts, but Baltimore has its catcher for the future.

9. Keibert Ruiz, Washington Nationals​

The Washington catcher is having an underrated season. He’s come up with timely hits and shown the ability to get on base. He has been one of the better, least talked-about players at the catcher position.

8. Gabriel Moreno, Arizona Diamondbacks​

The veteran is having a great season in the desert. He has one of the better slugging percentages among MLB catchers. He is headed for a career year.

7. Carter Jensen, Kansas City Royals​

The rookie has done a great job in his first season. He’s hit for power and established himself as one of the better power-hitting catchers in MLB. His name will be in the race for the AL Rookie of the Year Award.

6. William Contreras, Milwaukee Brewers​

The veteran is having a fantastic season. Entering the week, he leads MLB catchers in hits. He earned a reserve spot on the NL All-Star roster.

5. Drake Baldwin, Atlanta Braves​

Year two has been successful for Drake Baldwin. Entering the week, he is fourth in home runs among MLB catchers. He will be the starting catcher for the NL All-Star team.

4. Liam Hicks, Miami Marlins​

Hicks is having a great season for Miami. Entering the week, he is fifth in hits among MLB catchers. Unfortunately, he was snubbed from the NL All-Star roster.

3. Shea Langeliers, Athletics​

Entering the week, Langeliers is second in hits and home runs among MLB catchers. He has been on a tear this season. He will be the starting catcher for the AL All-Star team.

2. Dillon Dingler, Detroit Tigers​

Dingler is on his way to a career-best season. Entering the week, he is third in home runs among MLB catchers. He earned a reserve spot on the AL All-Star roster.

1. Hunter Goodman, Colorado Rockies​

Goodman’s strong season has earned him a reserve role on the NL All-Star roster. Entering the week, he leads MLB catchers in home runs. He is on pace to surpass last season’s home run and RBI totals.
