Ranger Suarez Joins Red Sox Legends With Historic Hot Streak originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 on Tuesday as their bats finally woke up from their recent slumber, hammering 15 hits.
That was more than enough offense for Ranger Suarez, who continued his recent hot streak with 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball.
While Suarez was pulled after 81 pitches and didn't last long enough to earn the win, it was still another strong outing for the 30-year-old lefty, lowering his ERA to 2.40.
Since struggling in his first two appearances of the season, Suarez has been phenomenal. Over his seven starts since then, he's allowed one run or fewer six times and has a microscopic 1.12 ERA.
Ranger Suarez owns a 1.12 ERA over his last seven starts.
According to @Stathead, that's the best ERA for a Red Sox starter over a seven-game span within a single season since Chris Sale in 2018 and Luis Tiant in 1972.

It's been a historic stretch for the All-Star southpaw. According to Stathead, that's the best ERA for a Red Sox starter over a seven-game span in a single season since Chris Sale in 2018 and Luis Tiant in 1972.
Obviously, that's pretty good company. Tiant led the Major Leagues in ERA in 1972 with a 1.91 mark, while Sale finished 2018 with a 2.11 ERA.
Suarez is making a great first impression with Boston after signing a five-year, $130 million contract with them in January. He'll try to keep it going in his next scheduled start against the Cleveland Guardians over Memorial Day weekend.
