The Los Angeles Rams provided quarterback Matthew Stafford with the most efficient offensive environment in nearly a decade, according to Pro Football Focus. New data from PFF shows the Rams finished the year with a 91.8 offensive supporting cast grade, the highest mark recorded by any team since the 2016 Atlanta Falcons.
The historic grade directly correlated with Stafford’s most MVP campaign. The 2016 Falcons unit similarly propelled quarterback Matt Ryan to an MVP award, with both offenses featuring historic individual receiving seasons to anchor the data.
Los Angeles also led the NFL with a 91.1 team receiving grade, driven by Puka Nacua’s historic season. Nacua posted the highest yards per route run metric recorded in the PFF era, dating back to 2006. He also led the NFL in receptions and was a driving force behind Stafford's NFL-leading marks in touchdowns and passing yards.
A primary blemish on the offensive data was the team's pass protection. While the receiving and rushing units ranked near the top of the league, the Rams' offensive line finished 20th in pass-blocking grade. Fortunately, the team's run-block was elite and helped spearhead the most efficient ground game in the league this past year.
The Rams' five starting offensive linemen for the 2026 season return, with some wrinkles. Right tackle Warren McClendon Jr. should inherit Rob Havenstein's Week 1 starting position after taking over for the veteran more post the 2025 season. Additionally, left tackle Alaric Jackson is facing serious off-field allegations that could threaten his availability this season.
As Stafford enters his 18th professional season, the supporting cast from this past season remains mostly the same, although the continuity up front will be heavily monitored. A lot of the moves this offseason were focused on the defense, so now the questions will shift back to the offense if they can replicate the success of 2025 in their search for a Super Bowl in 2026.
