Rams get major Aaron Donald unretirement update from NFL insider after Myles Garrett trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The first day of June was action-packed in the NFL world, as A.J. Brown was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots, and Myles Garrett was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams.

Regarding the Garrett-Rams blockbuster deal, the consensus is that the move has transformed Los Angeles into the favorites to represent the NFC in next year’s Super Bowl, considering they’re now loaded on both sides of the ball.

Could the Rams shock the NFL further by convincing former star defensive tackle Aaron Donald to come out of retirement to join Garrett in Los Angeles? ESPN’s Adam Schefter isn’t ready to rule out the idea.

"Again, we could talk about this, and I brought up the idea to the Rams yesterday, and they said right now, they've spent all their money,” Schefter said on ‘Get Up’ Tuesday. “They've allocated it to Trent McDuffie, who became the highest-paid cornerback in football.”

“Myles Garrett is being paid on a four-year, $160 million contract that he's going to rework to more favorable terms for the Rams, but they're paying an awful lot of money. Another team called and asked me yesterday, could the Rams sign Aaron Donald?”

“And I said, 'They're out of money.' And he said, 'In this league, you can always find money.' And it reminded me of what the teams said when they were calling me in late March, when they said, " The Browns are trading Myles Garrett, and the Browns said, " We're not trading Myles Garrett. Teams say the Rams might now make a run at Aaron Donald."

Donald undoubtedly enjoyed a dream NFL career, as the daunting defender earned three Defensive Player of the Year nods, eight All-Pro nods, 10 Pro Bowl nods, a Super Bowl ring, and is considered one of the best defensive players the league has ever seen.

Donald retired from the NFL after a 53-tackle, eight-sack campaign with the Rams in 2023-24. Although the 35-year-old appears to be enjoying retirement life, Schefter’s report suggests that under the right circumstances, Los Angeles could convince him to return to the big leagues for at least one season.

Unretirement rumors surrounding Donald will continue to ramp up in the next few days/weeks.
