Prior to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders didn't make any moves at quarterback outside of trading for Geno Smith. With rumors emerging that Aidan O'Connell could be on the trade block, it seemed like a certainty that the team would draft a quarterback.

The Raiders ended up selecting two in the seventh round in Cam Miller and Tommy Mellott. Las Vegas wasn't done there.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Raiders have signed former UNLV quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams as an undrafted free agent. He won't have to travel far to join the team, as he spent the last year playing football in Las Vegas.

Williams took over for Matthew Sluka as the starting quarterback after he decided to transfer in the middle of the season due to an NIL dispute. Luckily, the Rebels kept playing well with Williams under center.

He went 8-3 and led UNLV to the Mountain West Championship Game. Despite not starting the season, Williams helped author the best year in UNLV football history.

Williams is an older rookie quarterback at 25, which is likely why he went undrafted. He possesses some very good dual-threat ability. He combined for 28 touchdowns last season (19 passing, nine rushing).

He also added 851 yards on the ground. It remains to be seen if the Raiders are considering a positional change for Williams. The team is likely going to do that with Mellott. Regardless, the Raiders are going to have an interesting competition for backup quarterback this offseason, especially if O'Connell is let go.
