Today it was announced that the Chicago Bears have given Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade. And if they can't secure one by March 1, they will simply release him. Which means some linebacker needy team is going to get themselves a former Pro Bowler.

Trading LB Tremaine Edmunds

New Team Acquires
2026: $15M#Bears Dead Cap
2026: $2.43M

There's a $1M roster bonus due March 15th. If Chicago can't secure a trade partner by then, an outright release is expected here. More: https://t.co/baGcuv7NEppic.twitter.com/pdnUZtwiKb

All of the Raiders' starting linebackers from last season are headed for free agency. Leaving new DC Rob Leonard with a pretty empty cupboard. Edmunds would be a nice addition, not to mention an upgrade over their previous group.

As a nice benefit to Tremaine, he would get to team up with his older brother Terrell who is already with the Raiders. Which could give Las Vegas a leg up should this reach the stage where Tremaine is released, thus forcing them to compete with the rest of the NFL to sign him.

Tremaine's $15 million price tag for 2026 would be a bit steep, should they got the trade route. But the Raiders can afford it and you'd figure that $15 million would be knocked down as part of a new multi-year deal. The compensation for the Bears would figure to be pretty minimal as well. It's worth exploring and if the Raiders think it best to just wait for him to be released, they can revisit the idea then.
