A contract year is on the horizon for Las Vegas Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn in 2026. Chinn will be tasked once again with manning the starting safety slot for Las Vegas next season in a revamped secondary prior to hitting free agency in 2027.
The Raiders signed Chinn to a two-year, $16.2 million deal in free agency last year. The former second round pick started in all 15 games that he played for Las Vegas in 2025 in his first year with the team.
Chinn recorded two forced fumbles, a sack and two passes defensed in 2025. He did allow four receiving touchdowns on the year and recorded 10 missed tackles, but will have the chance to improve upon his performance from last season in 2026. Should he improve upon those numbers it will serve him well in the open market next year, whether he receives a more sizable contract offer from the Raiders, or another team looking to insert him into their defense.
The 28-year-old’s most recent deal with Las Vegas is the most lucrative contract that he’s signed in his career. Next offseason will present him with the chance to sign an even larger deal, but his play will need to warrant a pay raise, which he figures to be in better position to do with new Raiders coach and Super Bowl champion Klint Kubiak, as well as Rob Leonard taking over as defensive coordinator.
The Raiders went with safety Dalton Johnson with the No. 150 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He is set to play behind Chinn at strong safety in 2026. Las Vegas has a young talent in place to take over for Chinn in the event that he departs from Las Vegas in free agency in 2027. He will be largely in control of his market next year, based off of how he performs in 2026.
