This past week, the Raiders were being relatively tight-lipped about their plans at right guard with Jackson Powers-Johnson placed on injured reserve. JPJ was lost in the team's Week 10 game against that Broncos and was replaced at right guard by veteran Alex Cappa. But head coach Pete Carroll would not commit to Cappa as the starter when the team took the field against the Cowboys on Monday night. In the end, the way the Raiders to go was quite the srurprise.

This whole week the discussion was about who the Raiders would start between Cappa and third round rookie Caleb Rogers. In the end, it was neither.

Instead the team opted to move Jordan Meredith over from the center spot to take over at right guard and brought in Will Putnam to start at center.

Meredith started eight games at right guard last season for the Raiders and did an admirable job. He ended up taking the starting center spot in this year's camp with JPJ shifting over from cent to guard.

Putnam entered the NFL last offseason as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson, but didn't appear in any games as a rookie. He has appeared in eight games this season for the Raiders and his 27 snaps in Week 10 at left guard were his most as a pro.

The Raiders offensive line has struggled this season overall, so a shakeup could be a good thing.
