We scale Mount Crumpit to bring you this week's Busters for their loss to the Texans. Even though they actually put up a fight against a tough Houston team, they still fell short. Let's hand out some coal.
To begin the fourth quarter, the Raiders were within two points at 16-14. Then Johnson had a brutal missed tackle that allowed a 30-yard run. Two plays later, Porter gave up a nine-yard first down run that set the Texans up at the 27-yard-line. Still, they had the chance to stop the drive on third and eight until Johnson was flagged for pass interference that set them up in first and goal at the two. They scored the touchdown on the next play.
The Raiders answered the Texans TD to pull back within two points late in the fourth quarter. All they needed was a stop to have a shot at the win it late. It looked like they might have that stop after a fumbled snap that backed the Texans up to their own goal line and put them in third and 20. But Porter was flagged for a pass interference, giving them an automatic first down. The drive continued and drained the clock down, but the Raiders would have another chance to stop them. They lined up in third and eight and Porter gave up a 24-yard catch that allowed the Texans to kneel out the clock.
Previous to that, Johnson gave up a 21-yard catch to set up their first scoring drive and Porter gave up a 17-yard catch on third down on their second scoring drive.
Geno's first completion of the game was to the other team. On third down of the Raiders' second possession, the play broke down and he made an ill-advised pass that was behind Ashton Jeanty on the screen attempt. Derek Stingley Jr picked it off and returned it 31 yards for the touchdown. And the Raiders spent the rest of the game trying to play catchup.
They would tie it up in the second quarter, with Geno completing a TD pass to Brock Bowers from seven yards out. Then his next pass was nearly picked off again and by the half, they were back down 13-7. It was only Ashton Jeanty heroics that would keep the Raiders in the game of it after that.
This duo had a tough day trying to keep Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr out of the backfield. That is to say, they didn't do much of it.
Glaze gave up a pressure on the second play of the game, leading to a three-and-out to start things off. The second quarter saw Forsythe get blown back on third and one to give up a tackle for loss. Then the next possession began with Glaze giving up a sack, leading to a three-and-out.
The Raiders still managed to take the lead in the third at 14-13. And the defense forced a three-and-out. But the offense's answer was another three-and-out because Forsythe got knocked onto his back to give up a sack for a 13-yard loss. The next drive Glaze gave up a run stuff. The drive after that, the Raiders had to convert a third-and-13 because both Glaze and Forsythe were beaten to give up a sandwich sack for a nine-yard loss.
