No starters again today

More chances to check out the young guys

Hope Brissett gets more time today because Tune is just not ready to be an NFL QB

7:00 game AZ time

Either way..I bet we don't see Brissett for more than 2 series max.
They plan to keep him and won't risk injury to an insurance salesman trying to make an Al Bundy highlight he can brag about for the next twenty years.
It's the Clayton Tune show today.

Expect ugly football Cardinals fans.

I don't get it. Why play starters in game 1 and then not again?

I can find a case for the Denver game, having the joint practices as a substitute, but why just 2 series in game 1? On one of which Kyler threw a interception.

Baffling. Two series isn't achieving anything other than a higher injury risk exposure. Do it properly, as the Chiefs have done, or not at all.

If they make the decision to play starters at all I actually like it being early in the preseason rather than late because there’s more time for injury recovery and more time for the guys on the bubble to play closer to the cut decisions.

Give them a half then. But you can't run a team worried about injuries. The Chiefs play starters in every game and have been the best in the league for years.

I'd argue injuries are more likely to happen in the season to players not used to full go competitive ball.

Our first 5 games are all winnable. We could start the season 5-0 if we are up to speed and we should be preparing for that.

If Clayton Tune makes a third season of NFL money on the full roster it would only confirm my suspicions that he is the proud owner of the Bidwill pee tape.

What about the Eagles or Rams they haven’t done it at all?

I think preseason play is just a little bit overrated when it comes to us because it’s not like we have started off awful(at least offensively) since Kyler’s tenure outside of maybe a season. The problem has been the lack of good play @ the back half of the season.

The probem is these typically quickly develop into 3rd string vs. 3rd string. This makes it hard to determine who can play against real players.
Right?
By the end of Q1 it's just guys fighting for a PS spot and auditioning for other teams.

They did get a half in the first preseason game. Case in point, Tomlinson got hurt and he has two extra weeks to recover because of where they sequenced that playing time for the starters in the first game versus the last.

Playing an extra quarter or two of vanilla scheme will not give your team some massive advantage going into the regular season or else all teams would do it.

Game speed timing.
That's the biggest advantage IMO.
Lack of said timing has shown up for us in the past in the first few weeks of the season.

Exactly which preseason game is irrelevant. But the opponent matters. A starting corner will play the boundary harder than a third stringer....with Denver we got that work in during 11 on 11 the day before the game.
Having gained those reps against two good teams with strong defenses should help our offense get out of the gate faster.

Great so sounds like we’re covered since we have done both of the things you mentioned!
