While the NFL world is talking about the big Maxx Crosby trade Baltimore nixed, the Las Vegas Raiders announced two other trades that went official to open free agency. Once sending a player for a pick swap, the other swapping picks for a player.

The trade with the Buffalo Bills

Raiders get: CB Taron Johnson, Pick 228 (round seven) in the 2026 NFL Draft

Bills get: Pick 182 (round six) in the 2026 NFL Draft

Then trade with the New York Jets

Jets get: QB Geno Smith, Pick 228 (round seven) in the 2026 NFL Draft

Raiders get: Pick 208 (round six) in the 2026 NFL Draft

The Raiders also took on $16.2 million of Geno's salary for next season, saving them around $2 million versus an outright release.

So, the Raiders got the 228th pick from the Bills then turned around and sent that pick along with Geno Smith to the Jets. The net result was the Raiders trade QB Geno Smith for CB Taron Johnson and move down 26 spots in the sixth round for the privilege and saving a couple million dollars in the process.
