Purdue basketball was back on the court Tuesday as summer practice is underway. It is also a new look Purdue team. Gone are Braden Smith, Fletcer Loyer, and Trey Kaufman-Renn, who have long been mainstays in the starting lineup. We have a new look with a promising recruiting class coming on board, a solid transfer in Caden Pierce, and two players coming off of a redshirt season where much was gained in practice.
One thing we do know: CJ Cox will very likely remain in the starting lineup as he becomes The Man. The other four spots are up for grabs with plenty of minutes to go around.
The talent is still there, however, and with that comes expectations. It may take a moment for things to come together, but that’s what these summer practices are for. Here is what several players and coach Painter had to say on Tuesday after practice.
