Maybe an old-school photo can reverse the vibes for the Bruins?

Yes, that IS current GM Don Sweeney celebrating with Sergei Samsonov, Joe Thornton, and, eventually, Kyle McLaren!

That photo comes from way back in 1999, when the Bruins eliminated the Hurricanes in the first round of the playoffs.

I still remember the Boston Globe headline of “VICTORY FLEET,” because it was the first playoff series win post-Boston Garden and because I’m old.

We don’t need to talk about any playoff meetings between then and now, because we’re focused on reversing vibes.

The Bruins return to action tonight to face a very good Carolina team in Raleigh, which is always a tall task.

The B’s may not be firing on all cylinders at the moment, but the clinching of a playoff spot remains tantalizingly close and could be a mere formality of the B’s can get two points tonight.

Bruins! Hurricanes! In NORTH CAROLINA!
