Targeted by PSG to strengthen its attack, versatile Spain forward Ferran Torres has already discussed with the reigning two-time European champions the role awaiting him if he joins the club.

After signing young Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni and all but completing the return of Lucas Digne, whose signing is expected to be made official after the 2026 World Cup, will PSG now accelerate its pursuit of attacking reinforcements? Goncalo Ramos has already joined AC Milan, Lee Kang-in is on his way to Atletico Madrid, and two more forwards could leave before the end of the transfer window, although nothing has been finalized. Those players are Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola, both of whom remain highly valued, particularly by Premier League clubs.

In recent weeks, three names have emerged as PSG's main attacking targets: wingers Maghnes Akliouche (AS Monaco) and Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig), along with Barcelona's versatile Spanish forward Ferran Torres, who played centrally for his club last season but can also operate on either wing, as he often does with Spain.

PSG has already reached five-year contract agreements with Akliouche and Diomande but has yet to agree on transfer fees with their respective clubs. According to Sky Italia, Ferran Torres is willing to join PSG but has not yet reached a contract agreement with the Parisian club, as his situation at Barcelona has not been finalized, although everything points toward a departure.

On Monday, The Athletic revealed that Barcelona would have to pay Manchester City, Torres' former club, an additional €8 million if Ferran Torres signs a contract extension. Torres can still remain at Barcelona without extending his contract, but he would then become a free agent in one year, something Barcelona is determined to avoid.

A move this summer to PSG or elsewhere is therefore a very credible scenario, although Barcelona would first have to lower its demands. According to the Catalan press, Joan Laporta is currently asking for €50 million, an amount considered far too high for a player with only one year remaining on his contract and who would be expected to serve as a substitute in Paris.

On that point, Fabrizio Romano provided further insight in recent hours. According to the Italian journalist, Ferran Torres has already discussed with PSG, and likely directly with Luis Enrique, the role awaiting him in Paris if he signs: that of a "super sub" as a false No. 9. Romano reports that PSG wants Torres to become its new Goncalo Ramos, a role the Spain international is willing to accept.

The Italian journalist added that PSG has a shortlist of two or three candidates for the backup false No. 9 role, with Ousmane Dembele remaining the first-choice starter in that position. Le Parisien reported the same earlier this week, even mentioning a shortlist of four names.

However, as insider Djamel recently reported on X, Ferran Torres would not arrive to replace a potential departure by Bradley Barcola, but rather Goncalo Ramos. PSG is therefore expected to sign a striker capable of playing through the middle, and versatility like Torres' is viewed as a significant advantage.

In addition to that "super sub," the club also plans to strengthen the wings, at least with one player to replace Lee Kang-in and potentially a second if Mbaye and/or Barcola leave before the transfer window closes.
