Penn State football will have a completely overhauled roster to get to know in 2026 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Following one of the most active offseasons in recent memory for Penn State with a flurry of activity in the transfer portal, fans will have a lot of catching up to do in getting to know this year's Penn State roster. Fortunately, not every face will be brand new to fans. Regardless, we will be here to give you a fresh overview of every player on the roster for the 2026 season with a series of player profiles.
From all of the returning players, a long list of new faces from the transfer portal, and incoming recruits from the Class of 2026, we will have you covered with this year's player profiles for the Penn State roster. Here is a quick look at linebacker Cael Brezina for the 2026 season.
Class of 2024: Composite three-star recruit, No. 107 LB per 247Sports
Cael Brezina was among the massive departures from Iowa State to commit to Penn State out of the transfer portal, effectively following Matt Campbell to Happy Valley. Brezina was a key recruit for Campbell and Iowa State in the Class of 2024.
In two seasons with the Cyclones, Brezina compiled 51 tackles, three for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His 2025 season was most notable, especially when he had a career high in tackles with 8 in a game against TCU.
Brezina is considered to be the next man up in a rotation with Tony Rojas at the Will spot. However, due to his size, it would not be a surprise if in certain packages, Brezina played off the edge a bit more. Also, considering Rojas is coming off an injury, Brezina has seen a lot of reps as the starting weak-side linebacker and could play his way into a higher snap count come the start of the season.
Brezina was an accomplished wrestler in high school. In fact, he was one win away from qualifying for the Illinois state tournament after only picking up the sport the year prior.
