Penn State football will have a completely overhauled roster to get to know in 2026 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Following one of the most active offseasons in recent memory for Penn State with a flurry of activity in the transfer portal, fans will have a lot of catching up to do in getting to know this year's Penn State roster. Fortunately, not every face will be brand new to fans. Regardless, we will be here to give you a fresh overview of every player on the roster for the 2026 season with a series of player profiles.

From all of the returning players, a long list of new faces from the transfer portal, and incoming recruits from the Class of 2026, we will have you covered with this year's player profiles for the Penn State roster. Here is a quick look at linebacker John Klosterman for the 2026 season.

Preseason Player Profile

  • Hometown: Iowa City, Iowa
  • Height: 5-11
  • Weight: 229
  • Class in 2026: Redshirt Senior

Recruiting Rankings

Class of 2022: Unranked walk-on athlete

John Klosterman was among the many players making the move to Penn State by way of the transfer portal. Like a number of current Nittany Lions, Klosterman followed head coach Matt Campbell and key members of the coaching staff from Iowa State to Penn State.

Career Stats

Klosterman appeared in 27 games throughout his college career. Across three seasons at Iowa State, he recorded 20 tackles and a sack, mainly contributing on special teams.

Depth Chart Overview

Unfortunately for Klosterman, at this late stage of his collegiate career, he may never carve out a starting role for the Nittany Lions. With several other key Iowa State transfers on board, Klosterman may continue to see some of his best moments come in special teams. Still, his veteran presence will be helpful for the Nittany Lions down the stretch.

Random Fact

Klosterman was more of a baseball player in high school, where he was all-conference with a .319 batting average, knocking in 28 RBIs. As a pitcher, he maintained a sterling 1.64 ERA as well.
