The Potawatomi Nation announced a new Championship Field at the FireLake Ball Fields in Shawnee, expected to open in Spring 2027, just in time for softball season.
The new stand-alone field will be the second largest in the state, holding up to 4,100 fans. FireLake's facilities host amateur, high school and collegiate slowpitch and fastpitch softball competitions year-round.
The new stadium will feature a 24-by-32 digital scoreboard and will also be designed to host events beyond softball. The fields are designed with Division 1 guidelines in mind.
The current FireLake complex features 10 synthetic softball fields of smaller capacities, with fields 5-10 being built in 2025. The FireLake region, owned by the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, is centered around Hardesty Road, and also features the FireLake Arena, FireLake Casino, FireLake Golf Course, and FireLake Discount Foods.
The biggest softball stadium in Oklahoma, and the world, is Devon Park, in Oklahoma City.
With a capacity of 13,000 spectators, Devon Park is the home to the USA Softball Hall of Fame and the NCAA Women's College World Series through 2035. It will host softball in the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Love's Field at the University of Oklahoma is the largest on-campus softball stadium, with a capacity of 4,200.
