FALLS TOWNSHIP — Kyle Porter's strong season continued in West Muskingum's 64-49 win against visiting Coshocton in a Muskingum Valley League-Small School Division boys basketball win on Jan. 13 at Gary Ankrum Gymnasium.
Porter was 5-of-9 from behind the arc in a game-high 27-point effort that also featured nine rebounds — six offensive — and two assists.
Carter Smith added 11 points, Noah Morrison eight and Cade Porter handed out five assists as West (9-4. 4-3 MVL-Small) maintained leads of 30-24 at the half and 50-41 entering the fourth.
Mason Williams was 8-of-12 from the field in a 17-point effort for Coshocton; Cash Murphy added 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting as Coshocton (6-6, 3-4) lost despite shooting 54 percent (21-of-39).

Maysville 80, Crooksville 38: Gator Nichols had four of the Panthers' 14 3-pointers in an MVL-Small School win in Newton Township.
Nichols led all scorers with 21 points and Landon Iden added 16 for Maysville (11-1, 8-0), which led 27-9 after a quarter and pulled away. Jordyn Watson scored all 13 of his points in the first half and Kane Roehrig added 12.
Drew Horn had 17 points and Hodge Taylor 12 for Crooksville (2-11, 1-7).
Sheridan 65, New Lex 24: Colin Mallernee and Owen Cains tossed in 26 and 17 points, respectively, in the Generals' rout of the Perry County rival Panthers in an MVL crossover at Glen Hursey Gymnasium.
Mallernee scored 22 of his points in the first 24 minutes, which included three second-quarter 3-pointers. Cains had 12 of his points in the second half. Logan Russell had eight second-half points.
Eli Stephens' 10 points and Sam Rupe's eight paced New Lex.
Tri-Valley 61, Meadowbrook 27: Ryan Lamonica had team highs of 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Scotties in a convincing MVL crossover win in Dresden.
Oliver Baker tossed in 14 points and Colten Rollison had eight of his 10 in the third as Tri-Valley (9-5, 7-1 MVL-Big) led 26-14 at the half and 45-20 after three quarters. Troy Patterson added nine markers.
Rosecrans 73, Sugar Grove Berne Union 41: The Bishops jumped ahead 21-4 after the first quarter in a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division rout of the Rockets at Rogge Gymnasium.
Tyler Bernett scored 18 of his 22 points in the first three quarters and Titan Grandstaff tossed in 14 to lead nine players who scored for the Bishops, who shot 49 percent from the field, held a 33-29 rebounding advantage and led 45-20 at the half.
Bernett finished with12 rebounds and Nick Bernath six assists.
John Glenn 74, River View 47: Stehl Bates and Brayden Davis combined for 20 third-quarter points as the Muskies ran their winning streak to nine straight games in an MVL-Big School clash in New Concord.
Bates had 20 points, C.J. Dolan 18 — 14 came in the second quarter — and Cooper Briggs and Davis 14 as John Glenn (9-1, 6-1) led 48-22 at the half and 71-36 after three quarters.
Parker Andrews, now recovered from a broken collarbone, had 16 points in his season debut and Carter Wesney added 13 for River View.
Philo 55, Morgan 32: Rusty Trout scored 15 of his 17 points in the first three quarters as the Electrics built a 48-25 lead in a rout of the visiting Raiders in the MVL-Big School Division.
K.J. Philip and Kole Cash added 11 points for Philo (6-7, 3-5).
Luke Coleman had 13 of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter, but Morgan (4-8, 2-6) managed only 17 points in the final 24 minutes.
West M 52, Cols. DeSales 32: Jayden Thornton scored all 16 of her points in the first three quarters and Lyla Johnson chipped in 12 for the Tornadoes (10-4) in a nonleague home win against the Stallions (8-4).
Kyndall Fountain added eight points as eight players scored for West, which led 33-18 at the half.
Maysville 35, John Glenn 32: Evee Mathews had 13 points and Avery Daniels and Sophie Dennis eight as the Panthers (6-7, 4-5 MVL-Small) came back for an MVL crossover win in Newton Township.
Brynli Cavezza's 12 points paced John Glenn (4-10, 3-7 MVL-Big), which led 27-25 entering the fourth quarter. Ava Winland added seven counters.
Philo 53, Cambridge 17: Macy Spiker tossed in 12 points, Reagan Miller 10 and Rylie Trout nine for the Electrics in a nonleague rout at Gene Ford Gymnasium.
Spiker had 10 of her points, including both of her 3-pointers, in the second quarter as Philo built a 31-14 lead. The Electrics had only six turnovers and collected 25 steals — Trout had six.
