Pontotoc’s Olivia Galloway and Booneville’s Parker Pounders have been voted Daily Journal Athletes of the Week.
Galloway, a sophomore on the basketball team, averaged 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds over her last two games. She received 83.2% of the vote in the Female Athlete of the Week Twitter poll. The other nominees were Smithville’s Halle Sargent and Ingomar’s Peyton Wray.
Pounders, a junior soccer player, scored five goals and also had an assist in a 7-0 win versus MSMS on Monday. He earned 50% of the vote in the Male Athlete of the Week poll, beating out Wheeler’s Brandon Lowery and Itawamba AHS’ Keshun Wilson.
