Gilbert girls soccer player Greta Platts and Roland-Story baseball player Wyatt Ramus were voted the Ames Tribune's female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of May 31-June 6.

Platts earned female Athlete of the Week honors with 79% of the vote.

Platts had an impressive showing for the 2A No. 5 Gilbert girls soccer team during a 2-0 regional semifinal win over Nevada on June 2 and a 3-1 regional final win over Bondurant-Farrar on June 5.

She scored one goal against Nevada and assisted on all three Tiger goals during the victory over Bondurant-Farrar to help send the Tigers to state.

Ramus won male Athlete of the Week with 71% of the vote.

Ramus threw a brilliant game for the undefeated Roland-Story baseball team during a 10-0 victory over Greene County on June 1.

He went all six innings for the Norsemen on the mound. He tossed a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and just two walks to pick up the shutout win.
