Three people wanted by the FBI for allegedly robbing the homes of professional American athletes, including Travis Kelce, in 2024 and 2025 were arrested over the weekend, police in Chile said on Sunday, May 24.
The suspects, who also allegedly robbed athletes in Argentina, are believed to have stolen jewelry, expensive watches and sports memorabilia such as jerseys and other souvenirs, police said, according to BBC and CBS News.
Two of the thieves were arrested last week after breaking into the Argentina home of retired tennis star Juan Martín del Potro, who won the 2009 US Open and became the last Latin American player to win a Grand Slam tournament.

"The capture of these two individuals in Argentina" led to the arrest on Saturday of a third member of the gang, Commissioner Enrique Gutiérrez of Chilean Interpol said in a video shared by the police over the weekend, according to CBS News.
"Arrest warrants with a view to extradition" have already been requested by U.S. authorities, police added in the video, per the outlet.
The police did not disclose the gender of the three suspects.
"These individuals will face justice in the United States or Argentina," added Gutierrez.

In December 2024, the FBI warned sports leagues about organized theft groups targeting professional athletes.
In a report obtained by ABC News at the time, the FBI said that the homes of professional athletes are being targeted for burglary "due to the perception they may have high-end goods like designer handbags, jewelry, watches, and cash."

The report alleged that organized theft groups from South America have burglarized the homes of at least nine professional athletes between September and November 2024, and were completed via surveillance using publicly available information and social media activity to figure out when the players would be out of their homes. Several of the burglaries occurred when stars were out of town for away games, like Kelce who was robbed in October 2024 as the Chiefs took on the New Orleans Saints, with teammate Patrick Mahomes getting hit just 48 hours earlier, and Joe Burrow, who was playing in Dallas when his Cincinnati home was burglarized in December 2024.
"These preparation tactics enable theft groups to conduct burglaries in a short amount of time. Organized theft groups bypass alarm systems, use Wi-Fi jammers to block Wi-Fi connections and disable devices, cover security cameras and obfuscate their identities,” the report stated.
