"In Denver, a sports columnist has seen the future.

The wacky Woody Paige predicts an unbeaten season for the Broncos. He says the mere presence of Jake Plummer will "mean three or four more victories."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This prediction by a Denver Sports writer will be the END of Jake Plummer in Denver! When Jake read this you know you had to have a moment of "Oh No!" to himself.

Was the article "tongue in cheek" - maybe....BUT, it put together a scenario to Bronco's fans that Jake CAN NOT LIVE UP TO...even
the great Elway could not live up to that!

Now the Bronco's fans are expecting perfection...and the first
game Plummer has a TERRIBLE day - it's OVER...he will be BOO'd
Worse than he was in Az, and it WILL rattle him....he will Press
even more, and make even more mistakes....

This article is Jake's WORST NIGHTMARE - IMO....I bet privately he wishes it was never written...

Sleep tight Jake........

(I predict Plummer is Benched - for at least a game - by Mid Season...)

I was always a Plummer supporter - and wanted him to stay in Az, But my goodness we all know this is too much to put on this guy and he will probably not handle it well after the FIRST Denver LOSS....Media to Jake: "Do you blame yourself for blowing Denver's Perfect Season?"

Like I said in another post, he's being set up for a BIG FALL! And, after watching him all these years, he will fall. I almost feel sorry for him.

I agree....I don't feel sorry for him because he made the choice, but I think even if he has a better year (statistically) than Greise has last year, BUT the Broncos don't improve HE will be the scapegoat! Especially if the Broncos LOSE EARLY in the season...he will really take it in the shorts then...

I hope he does well. Jake can take a lot of heat, but as you have said this type of heat would be unfair to anybody excvept Farve, he can take anything. I have always been a Jake fan and remain a Jake fan except when he plays us. For his sake I hope he does great.

Huh? No one is expecting Blake to be the savior that the Denver media is projecting Jake to be.

I don't think that Jake is expected to be the "savior," as much as the catalyst playmaker under center who has charisma and a will to win that can get them over the proverbial hump.

The Broncos remain a good team (despite questions in the secondary), but they've lacked the leadership with Griese under center to get them to maximize their potnetial. This isn't Ryan Leaf coming to San Diego or Peyton Manning coming to Indy. It's more like, say, Jeff Blake coming to Phoenix.

The way I see this working is much the same as it did with Jake as a Cardinal.

He'll start off kind of a mixed bag - no mistakes in a few games, one or two inappropriate picks in one or two others.

He'll also win a couple of come-from-behind games and the fans will get off on that - until somewhere toward the end of the season when the Broncs are at or barely above .500 and they figure out Jake might have had something to do with that.

All most of us want from Blake is more TD's than INT's. A passer rating of over 70 would be icing on the cake.

Nope. Not a savior. Just some consistency.

That's because the Denver media are doing the standard, 'Plummer was bad because he was with the Cardinals".

Of course now he is with the Bronocs he won't pass the ball behind his back or throw floaters.

This is the 2nd outrageous woody paige plummer article. My god does this guy need to get out frumunda plummer's nutz or what.

Like he emailed me back(after 1st article) saying he is entitled to his own opinions, which he is, but such outrageous statements made by him should lead the denver post or whatever to check to see if he is taking some prescription drugs while writing this.

I can't wait to see how he tries to play off his predictions after next season. He better prepare his reconcilliation article now, because there'll be lots of splaining to do.

Doesn't a writer have to be in tune to football a little bit in order to write it?

I mean plummer MIGHT be able to lead a CFL team to an undefeated season, but in the NFL he is only a marginal starter, good backup. His statistics and his play should tell EVERYONE to never make statements like that. Not to mention his marginal arm strength, poor decisions, and in-ability to throw a spiral farther than 35 yards.

My predictions....Trent Dilfer passes for 6000 yards. Raiders go winless. Tony Womack hits 73 HRs. Shaq becomes the starting pg next year and out-assists Jason Kidd. The broncos go 0-16 under plummer. I mean geez, any of these are more probable.

I don't even think his comments are worth me emailing him because they are just so outrageous.

What I find amusing if not predictable is Jake's immediate impact on the Broncos. Clinton Portis is talking about holding out and the Broncos have already said "Shanahan then issued a warning: "Basically, he's got no choice. If Clinton decides he doesn't want to play, he's going to have to sit out for three years before he can play again.''

Why is Portis mad? He was a 2nd rounder who had a monster rookie year so now he wants his contract redone. One of the reasons the Broncos can't redo it is they gave Jake a lot of money this year and don't have the cap room, they are willing to restructure his deal but they want him to sign a longer deal, he's not sure he wants to.

His agent specifically cited his salary compared to other rookies on the team (Ashley Lelie their #1 pick last year) and compared to what they gave Jake.

Again it's not Jake's fault they gave him the money and the deal is voidable but it's going to be funny if Portis becomes a full fledge holdout because this was all so predictable when Denver signed Jake.

This little tidbit from OrangeMane.com cracked me up. This will be my last post regarding Plummer, I promise, just couldn't resist. I wish him well.

"Plummer impressed the coaches and the media with his ability to run around and make plays. There was some concern with timing and accuracy, as receivers found themselves stretched out at times. Our sources tell us that there were some raised eyebrows among the media present about Plummer?s height. We?re told that Plummer, who is listed in the media guide at 6?2?, seemed to have trouble seeing over the defensive line at times, forcing him out of the pocket in search of throwing lanes and a better view of the field."

Krang, if Jake is 6'0 then Blake is 5'9 or shorter. He's just a little guy.
Wait til you see him standing in a crowd. If you can find him.

I agree Jake is taller than Blake.

Then again Shaq is shorter than Shawn Bradley hasn't seemed to impact his career (-:

<p>I really don't care if we can find him or not. As long as he can find our WR's buddy----that's all we need.

I'm a betting man from the midwest. I will be betting heavily on opening day that Cincinnati, which is brimming with new hope will upset the Broncos at Cincinnati. I am counting on Plummer putting his team in a whole early. He'll be booed off the field by early to mid season.

Cincy is good at opening games....not so good after that.

I was at their opener 2 years ago when they beat the Super Bowl Pats....they went bust after that.

Don't be a stranger traveler49 - 3 posts in 3 months.

Cinci has had the best off-season of all the NFL teams, IMO, and frankly, I'm rooting for them. Their fanshave had little to celebrate for years.
