The 49ers have a ton of options beside Guard that they can take and need. I don’t think we have to worry about Pregnon being gone. What we have to worry about is Monti taking a safety or something like that instead.

If we don't go OL it means we (the FO and coaches) feel that the RS of the OL is in better shape than the fans do. In FA we signed a RT from Atlanta, which ran the ball very well last year. So, it comes down to our RG, who is now in his third year and how the coaches feel about him. In any case we need OL depth, but not in the second round where teams usually are looking for starters. So, if nothing else this pick will tell us where we are, OL-wise.

McDonald is strictly an anchor, but a good one. Can’t play on passing downs as he has zero ability to collapse a pocket. If you liked Tomlinson’s 2025 game, he’s your man. Parker is a slow Edge. He has a great 2024 but showed little in 2025 once Oline knew just to beat him to the punch. He’s not agile. If you get your hands on him, he can be controlled. If he gets to blocker first he can be effective, but he’s easily frustrated. I don’t like either guy much, though McDonald would help on third and short plus goal line stands.

Their biggest need is seen to be either T or G because they don't know who their LG is and Trent Williams is old. So Pregnon is definitely possible. They do need a WR and the media thinks they need another edge, they took Mykel Williams last year so my guess is G, T and Wr are their primary options.
I'd be looking at this as a 2 year build. Fortify the OL/offense as best you can this draft in preparation of taking a qb early next year when there appears to be some very good options.
Next year, focus on defense in free agency and after round 1.

Bisontis is an okay fall back if Pregnon is gone. He has the mean streak I require. He’s not as good at handling stunts and blitzes, which is a concern next to Froholdt who leaves the A gap open too often. He needs to improve his technique to become an effective drive blocker. I prefer my guys but could see them taking him if Pregnon’s gone. He’s better than Adams but has same faults. He is meaner.

Can’t say I’m an expert oline evaluator, but are we saying Adams isn’t it? I thought he started playing better towards the end of the year.
Crownover is intriguing to me. He's got the physical traits to be a starter level tackle but needs some polishing.

I don’t see the mean toughness I like in his play. He’s been described as Canadian nice. Maybe it’s a stereotype, but he seems more intense than mean. I’m an old time Cards’ line guy.
